Tips

  • Avocados: Choose ripe avocados. They should yield to gentle pressure but not be too soft or mushy. Cut them in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh with a spoon.
  • Tomato: Use a large, ripe tomato. Dice it into small pieces. You can remove the seeds and excess juice from the tomato to prevent the guacamole from becoming watery.
  • Jalapeño Pepper: Adjust the amount of jalapeño according to your spice preference. Remove the seeds and the membrane if you prefer less heat, and finely chop the pepper. Always wash your hands after handling jalapeños to avoid irritation.
  • Red Onion: Dice the red onion finely so its flavor doesn’t overpower the other ingredients. Soaking the diced onion in cold water for a few minutes can reduce its sharpness.
  • Lime Juice: Use lime juice in moderation to preserve authentic Guacamole texture and taste.
  • For the best flavor, fresh-squeezed lime juice is preferable. It not only adds a zesty taste but also helps prevent the avocados from turning brown.
  • This dish is well served as a spread, in tacos and with corn tortilla chips.
